The Day of the Jackal – Season 2 (2025)
The second season of The Day of the Jackal promises a deeper descent into the shadowy world of espionage, betrayal, and moral ambiguity. Picking up where the first season left off, the story continues to follow Eddie Redmayne’s enigmatic and deadly assassin, known only as the Jackal, as he navigates a shifting maze of loyalties, rivalries, and personal demons.
After the explosive events of Season 1, the Jackal is caught in a battle on two fronts: attempting to mend the fractured bond with his estranged wife, Nuria (Úrsula Corberó), and confronting the treachery of his former employer, Timothy Winthrop (Charles Dance), who has betrayed him in a pivotal mission. This new chapter pulls back the curtain on the Jackal’s internal struggle, exposing the psychological cost of a life lived in the shadows and exploring the toll his violent profession has taken on his humanity.
The returning ensemble includes Eleanor Matsuura as Zina Jansone, Chukwudi Iwuji as Osita Halcrow, Lia Williams as Isabel Kirby, Sule Rimi as Paul Pullman, and Florisa Kamara as Jasmine Pullman. Lashana Lynch’s character, Bianca, will not return, having completed her arc in the previous season.
While no official release date has been announced, production is slated to begin in early 2025, with the season expected to premiere sometime in 2026, depending on scheduling.
Season 2 raises the stakes, deepens the intrigue, and peels back the layers of a man who’s both predator and prisoner of his own past.
